Read the article below from the Foss Science Stories "Earth Materials" book. Then, watch the video about the different types of rocks.

One type of rock is called "metamorphic" rock. Let's break up the word metamorphic-

meta means "big"
morph means "change"
Therefore, the word "metamorphic" means big change. A metamorphic rock has gone through a big change.

Your task:
Use what you learned in both the article and the video to explain how metamorphic rock is made. Be sure to support your response with evidence from BOTH the article and the video!

HOW METAMORPHIC ROCKS ARE MADE. This is how metamorphic rocks are made. usually, very deep under ground there is magma, and if the magma does not get hot enough the rocks will get cooked...And the rocks will get smashed by heat and pressure together witch will make a metamorphic rock. For example Limestone is turned into Marble. Granite turns into Gneiss. Rocks cannot be melted, but pressure can change the rock. For instance if a rock into pressure the two rocks will smash, like really hard.

Metamorphic rocks are made from heat and pressure deep down in the earth. Acording to the video types of rocks and the text where do rocks come from. Metamorphic rocks start as Ignios, Sedementry rocks and other types of metamorphic rocks. Acording to the video limestone can turn into marble and granite can turn into gneiss.

Metamorphic rocks are made by getting put through heat and pressure coming from sources such as volcanoes and earthquakes. According to the video, the word "metamorphic" means "changed" or "big change." At first, metamorphic rocks are not actually metamorphic rocks yet because they didn't go through a change. They are just rocks made up of other different masses of rocks like sedimentary, igneous, and little parts of other metamorphic rocks. Then, since most rocks start out in volcanoes and then eventually get pushed out by all the pressure, most metamorphic rocks will get cooked and flattened out by the lava underneath them. If the lava is too hot, then it will melt the rocks into molten rock. To form the metamorphic rocks, the lava can't be too hot to melt the rock but hot enough so the heat and pressure will change the rock's shape. As the rock is getting put through all that heat and pressure, all the crystals and minerals in the rock will also get flattened out from the pressure and they will eventually form into more like layers on the rock. For example, according to the video, when granite gets put through heat and pressure, it will form a new rock called gneiss. When limestone gets put under heat and pressure, it will form a new mineral called marble. After rocks are put through a big change, they will form a metamorphic rock.

According to the text "Where Do Rocks Come From ", metamorphic rocks are made of heat and pressure. "Meta" means big and "morph" means change .They start out as masses of rocks. Metamorphic rocks may start as igneous rocks, sedimentary rocks, and even metamorphic rocks. According to the video "Types of Rocks", the heat and pressure cannot melt the rock, but it can change it. Also, deep underground heat and pressure can cause changes too and change it into a metamorphic rock. For example, it changes Granite into Geiss,Limestone into Marble, and Shale into Slate.

Metamorphic rocks start as masses of igneous, sedimentary,or other metamorphic rocks! Metamorphic rocks are created by heat and pressure, they are formed deep underground.Magma can heat and melt the rocks under the Earth's surface, sometimes magma is not hot enough,so the pressure press's the layers together to make a new type of rock!Granite, for example, smashes together into gneiss the pressure's so strong,it can have stripes, instead of dots.

Metemorpic rocks are made from heat and pressure. The heat and pressure come from volcanoes. And volcanoes are very hot. Metamorphic rocks were first igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks. Volcanoes and earthquakes cause heat and pressure which change rocks into metamorphic rocks. Heat and pressure can change sandstone into quartzite. Pressure cause Granite to change into Gneiss. Limestone changes to Marble.

I claim that heat and pressure together makes metamorphic rocks.
I know that because sandstone can turn into quartzite which is a metamorphic rock. Another example would be limestone a sedimentary rock to marble also a type of metamorphic rock. The reason i know about this is because metamorphic rocks change due to heat and pressure. Metamorphic rocks could be made of igneous rocks sedimentary rocks or even other type of metamorphic rocks.Because metamorphic rocks start out as masses of other rocks.Volcanoes and earthquakes can also be a cause for metamorphic rocks to change.Because metamorphic rocks means big change. That is my understanding for how metamorphic rocks are made.

My claim is heat and pressure make metamorphic rocks. I know that because under extreme heat and pressure quartz can turn into sandstone.I also know for a fact that igneous and sedimentary can turn into a metamorphic rock, if there’s enough heat pressure. The reason why metamorphic rocks can change of heat and pressure is because the rocks are below the Earth’s surface.

I claim that heat and pressure make metamorphic rocks. I know this because under heat and pressure, sandstone which is a sedimentary rock can turn into quartzite. It gets lots of heat and pressure because it is under a lot of other rocks, like Igneous and Sedimentary. Metamorphic rocks started out as different rocks. But all that heat and pressure made it change. Meta means big,and morph means change. So the entire name means big change, so it changes due to heat and pressure.

Other evidence to support my claim is that limestone turns into marble. A final piece of evidence is that shale into stale. The reason why metamorphic rocks change due to the extreme heat and pressure is that because the metamorphic rocks are below the Earth’s surface. An reason why metamorphic rock is made due to extreme heat and pressure is that it has flat mineral grains due to that the rock will get cooked and smooshed when it is sandwiched under the other layers of rock.

The reason why the metamorphic rocks can change due to heat and pressure is because they are below the other Earth rocks. The other Earth rocks create heat and pressure because they are very heavy and hot and that is why I think metamorphic rocks are formed. Metamorphic rocks are made by heat and pressure and other sedimentary, igneous and even metamorphic rocks.

I claim that it is heat and pressure that makes a metamorphic rock. Metamorphic rocks start as any of the three groups: igneous, sedimentary, and, yes, metamorphic. Heat and pressure changes when under the earth, rocks are heated up, not enough to melt them, but just enough to cook and mush them to a different rock. For example, limestone,a sedimentary rock, could turn into marble. Two types of the sources of heat and pressure are volcanoes or earthquakes.

I think that metamorphic rocks are formed by extreme heat and pressure. I know this because heat and pressure can turn sandstone in to quartzite and shale in to slate, slate and quartzite are metamorphic rocks while sandstone and shale are sedimentary rocks. Sedimentary rocks are not the only type of rock that can turn into a metamorphic rock, igneous rocks can also become metamorphic rocks. You’re probably wondering what causes the heat and pressure needed to form metamorphic rocks, well I’ll tell you. Earthquakes are a big part of turning rocks into metamorphic rocks. When the Earth starts shaking the ground shifts, and so do the rocks underground. This might shift the rocks to a place with LOTS of heat and pressure making it a metamorphic rock.

Heat and pressure, which makes metamorphic rocks, can come from many different sources. Metamorphic rocks are made from heat and pressure.
According to the text, metamorphic rocks are made from heat and pressure below the earth's surface. From the video, I know that when rocks are below the earth's surface, they are in a lot of heat and pressure. The heat and pressure came from the volcanoes and earthquakes. After that, the rocks in the earth's surface will get "cooked" and "smashed". Then, the rocks will turn into new rocks. For example, limestone can be turned into marble if it has a lot of heat and pressure.
The reason when rocks have heat and pressure turn into metamorphic rocks is because the heat melts the rock in the earth. Next, the pressure "smashes" the rock so it is just like a metamorphic rock. At last the rock hardens or cools and then, it is a metamorphic rock!

both of the two soroes says that volcanoes, earthqaukes cause heat ,pressure which chages rocks.so i think that metaphoric rocks were made from lava because in the vidoe it says that i told you at the bening so thats why i think that metaphoric rocks are made out of lava.

How Are Metamorphic Rock Made?
According to the text, metamorphic rocks can be made by earthquakes and volcanoes. They can also be made by heat and pressure. It also says that metamorphic rocks start out as masses of other rocks such as igneous, sedimentary, and many other metamorphic rocks.
According to the video, deep underground heat and pressure cause changes. Such as Granite to Gniess, and Limestone to Marble. It also says that rock can't be melted but the pressure changes the rock.

Metamorphic rocks is started out to be made as masses of igneous, sedemetary and metamorphic rock.Deep underground heat and pressure changnes such as Granite can tern into Gnessis and limestone to Marbel. Rocks cannot be melted but the pressure change the rock.

Metamorphic rocks are formed by volcanoes and heat and pressure. Before they become metamorphic rocks they can be Sedimentary,Igneous,or even metamorphic.

According to the text it said that meterprofic rocks start other masses of other rocks. For example they can be igneous, sedemantary,or even meterprofic the heat and pressure can change the rock.Sometimes you can see the crystals of meterprofic rock cool.Even a limestone can turn into marble.

According to the text "where do rocks come from":Metamorphic rocks start out as masses of other rocks. Metamorphic rocks are made from heat and pressure. Metamorphic rocks start out as masses of igneous, sedimentary and Metamorphic rocks. Volcanoes/earthquakes cause heat and pressure which change rocks to metamorphic rocks.

According from the video "types of rocks":Deep underground heat and pressure cause changes. Granite to Gneiss, Limestone to Marble. Rock cannot be melted but the pressure changes the rock. Metamorphic rocks start out as igneous, sedimentary and other metamorphic rocks

From the text,"Where Do Rocks Come From" I learned that volcanoes/earthquakes cause heat/pressure which change rocks to metamorphic rocks. Also the text says metamorphic rocks start out as masses of igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks. From the video, Types Or Rocks I learned that granite changes into gneiss
and limestone changes into marble. Also rock cannot be melted but the pressure changes the rock.

Metamorphic rocks are made by heat and pressure. One reason I think this is because the article said that heat and pressure can turn one rock to another rock.
Another reason I think this is because "meta" means mineral grain that flatten and align, and heat and pressure (from the video) can flatten and align rocks.

I claim that metamorphic rocks are made by extreme heat and pressure.I think this because sandstone can turn into quartzite with extreme heat and pressure. This happens because under the ground there is other rocks above other rocks which creates pressure. There is also magma which creates heat. Sedimentary rocks igneous rocks and even other metamorphic rocks can also be made into a metamorphic rock. This is because the heat and pressure can change these different types into a metamorphic rocks. This happens because if the magma isn't hot enough to melt the rocks above it the’ll be cooked and smooshed into a new rock. This is how a metamorphic rock is made.

Metamorphic rocks come from heat and pressure. Heat and pressure can change one rock to a metamorphic rock, such as changing sandstone to quartzite. Heat and pressure come from different sources like volcanoes and earthquakes. When rocks below the ground don't get hot enough, pressure from the layers above the rocks crush them to become metamorphic rocks. Igneous, sedimentary, and even metamorphic rocks can turn into metamorphic rocks. My evidence makes sense to my claim because my evidence tells how metamorphic rocks are made and that was my claim.

Metamorphic rocks are any types of rocks put under heat and pressure to form a metamorphic rock.On the bemisthinkers 4th grade blog it said mete means big an morph means change,so metamorphic means change.for example shale can turn into slate and limestone can turn into marble

My claim is that metamorphic rocks are formed by heat and pressure. My evidence in the article is that on the page about metamorphic rocks it states that when heat and pressure combine forces on a large mass of rocks, those rocks can change. Some rock changes are:sandstone to quartzite, limestone to marble, and shale to slate. My evidence from the Brain-Pop video is that it states that because of the pressure caused by the layers of rocks above, metamorphic rocks often get heated up. My reasoning to back up my evidence is that when heat and pressure combine it can shapeshift the rock into another shape. It makes sense that when a rock is weathered, it can change into other forms.

How are metamorphic rocks made?Well very very deep under ground where there is magma, and if the magma is not hot enough the rocks will be cooked. The rocks will get smashed and there is a metamorphic rock. For instance if you read the article in the category metamorphic it says that the rocks need a lot of heat and pressure to be made.It also said heat and pressure can turn one type of rock to a another type.So anyways Meta means "Big"and Morph means"Change"

My claim is that metamorphic rocks are formed by heat and pressure. In the article it says rocks below the lava are metamorphic rocks. It also says that in the video.I also know that because when lava makes igneous rocks the rocks below the lava form metamorphic rocks

I know the rock is volcano out and the rock are big , and I know is out to the volcano ,so is hot , if now volcano shoot out the rock , that time people touch will die.

Heat and pressure can make some rocks become different rocks. Those rocks are called metamorphic rocks. When Sandstone is heated or pressed it becomes Quartzite. When Limestone is heated or pressed it becomes Marble. When Shale is heated and pressed it becomes Slate. In the article said that heat and pressure can change a rock into another type of rock.In the video it said heat and pressure makes a metamorphic rock

Metamorphic rocks are made by heat and pressure. In the article it said that they are formed by heat and pressure. In the video it said heat and pressure make up a metamorphic rock. I know my evidence makes sence because both in the video and the article it said words that I can infer that is made by heat and pressure.

Metamorphic rocks are formed by heat and pressure. The video said heat and pressure make up meta. rocks by rocks surface under pressure from the layers above them. The article said heat and pressure changes the rock into another kind of rock. The evidence suports my claim because the video and the article said heat and pressure make metamorphic rocks.

Metamorphic rocks are made by pressure and heat. They are made out of different types of rocks such as igneous, sedimentary and other metamorphic rocks. These are some examples, shale-slate, limestone-marble and sandtone- quartize. I know that because in the video and the article it said that metamorphic rocks are made out of different rocks.

metamorphic rocks can be any rocks.Because in the video it says rocks below the surface are under pressure from the layers above them.Another reason is because in the "where do rocks come from"it says metamorphic rocks start out as masses of other rocks.my reasoning is because the way the metamorphic is made out of heat and pressure of the other rocks and usually the rock that is going to turn in to a metamorphic rock is on the bottom.

Metamorphic rocks are formed by heat and pressure. The sources are earthquakes and volcanos. Heat and pressure can change shale into slate and Limestone into Marble. It makes sense because metamorph means big change. In the video it showed heat and pressure makes up a Metamorphic rock.

Metamorphic rocks are made out of masses of other rocks with heat and pressure. To form the rock with heat, the lava or magma can not be too hot ,otherwise it will melt the rock.Pressure needs an earthquake or layers of heavy sediment on top of each other. For example, using heat and pressure, you can turn sandstone into quartzite, limestone into marble, and shale into slate.

Metamorphic rocks are made when their is heat and pressure to form one rock into another.heat and pressure can turn sandstone into quartzite. Rocks below the surface under pressure from the layers above them. Metamorphic-mineral grains grains that aligated and flattened
